To The Moon
with Astrolab.
A commissioned artwork by Dr. Sian Proctor is traveling to the Moon in 2026 aboard Astrolab's FLIP rover .
This artwork was created in collaboration with Starborn Academy and the Letters to the Moon project. Through an 8-lesson curriculum, students combine coding, creativity, and space exploration while creating digital time capsules destined for the lunar surface.
STUDENT MESSAGES TRANSFORMED INTO LUNAR ART
Dr. Proctor transformed student messages into a word cloud artwork using the 25 most common themes from their essays. The artwork was then turned into a space patch by A-B Emblem , the official patch maker for NASA.
FIRST PATCHES RETURNING TO THE MOON SINCE APOLLO
The FLIP rover mission will mark a historic moment, carrying these patches to the lunar surface and connecting a new generation of explorers with the legacy of Apollo.
