Earth's unique light.
A PLANETARY SIGNATURE
EarthLight is the luminous signature created through the relationship between sunlight, Earth's atmosphere, and the living systems that make our planet possible.
EarthLight World™ is the science behind this unique signature. Understanding it inspires and equips us to become more effective stewards of our home planet.
A LIVING SYSTEM
At the heart of EarthLight World™ is the understanding of Earth as a living system, where energy, atmosphere, and life exist in a continuous relationship.
Through AfroGaia, Dr. Sian Proctor explores how our planet transforms sunlight into a medium that allows life to take hold and thrive across millions of years.

Where sunlight becomes EarthLight.
EarthLight World™ is Earth's unique cosmic fingerprint; a distinctive luminous signature visible from space. It is created through the intricate dance between sunlight and Earth's atmosphere, transforming harsh solar radiation into the gentle, life-sustaining light that bathes our world.
This phenomenon is not only beautiful; it is fundamental to human existence and all life on Earth.
ATMOSPHERE
A glow carried beyond earth.
The Earth acts as a prism that transforms sunlight into Earthlight . Our atmosphere scatters this light to create the blue skies and vivid colors that paint our world. EarthLight World™ reveals the very conditions that make our planet and human life possible.
Remarkably, this same EarthLight energy extends beyond our atmosphere, creating a presence astronauts can experience when facing Earth from orbit.
The more we
understand Earth,
the more deeply connected
we become.
— EarthLight World™
Understanding EarthLight World™ reveals the intricate ways our world nurtures and sustains us, fostering a profound sense of connection.
This awareness empowers us to become better stewards of Earth, guiding the choices that preserve and protect the delicate balance that makes life possible.
As a member of the 2021 all-civilian Inspiration4 mission and the first female commercial spaceship pilot, Dr. Sian Proctor experienced the Overview Effect—the profound cognitive shift many astronauts describe after seeing Earth from space.
In Earthlight, she recalls being "bathed in Earthlight" while floating inside the Dragon capsule's cupola. Rather than simply observing Earth's beauty, the experience transformed her understanding of our planet as one interconnected home and humanity's place within the larger universe.
What distinguishes Earthlight is Dr. Proctor's ability to merge scientific insight with artistic expression. Her original artwork and poetry offer a deeply personal interpretation of the emotional and psychological impact of viewing Earth from orbit.
More than a memoir, Earthlight is a call to action. Through her journey—from dreamer to geologist, artist, astronaut, and explorer—Dr. Proctor shows how a shift in perspective can inspire greater global unity, environmental stewardship, and appreciation for our shared home.
THE ART OF EARTHLIGHT WORLD™
My Space Painting.
Dr. Proctor's art is born from a perspective few have experienced — the awe-inspiring view of Earth from space, illuminated by the glow of an EarthLight World™.
This transformative vision, witnessed during her historic spaceflight, became the foundation of her artistic expression.
Through her paintings, she invites viewers to see AfroGaia (Mother Earth) as she does — a vibrant, precious masterpiece floating within the vastness of space.
