Wings to Soar is a poem penned by trailblazing space poet Dr. Sian Proctor — the first artist selected to become an astronaut.

In 2021, Dr. Proctor made history as a crew member of the SpaceX Inspiration4 mission, spending three days in space as part of the first all-civilian mission to orbit Earth.

Her childhood dream of reaching the stars became reality as she became the first woman commercial spaceship pilot and the only African-American woman to serve as a mission pilot.

Through this beautifully illustrated comic, Dr. Proctor's journey of resilience, creativity, and exploration is transformed into a story that inspires dreamers of all ages.

The comic is illustrated by 24-year-old Moises Jimenez, a comic artist, illustrator, and graphic designer whose creative journey began as a Space2inspire intern while pursuing his Associate Degree in Digital Media Arts.

Balancing full-time work, school, and his creative practice, Moises gained real-world experience inside Dr. Sian Proctor’s Space2inspire Gallery — learning how to take ideas from early concepts and sketches through the complete process of storytelling, design, and publication.

His work on Wings to Soar became a defining moment in his artistic journey, showcasing his talent as an emerging illustrator and storyteller. Through this project, Moises transformed imagination into a finished comic experience that inspires audiences of all ages.

Through opportunities like this, Space2inspire creates pathways for young creatives to build professional experience, discover their artistic voice, and bring meaningful stories to life.

What started as an internship has grown into a permanent role on the Space2inspire creative team, where Moises continues creating through illustration, imagination, and visual storytelling.
